It appears that social media is having a huge impact on travellers making selections for their next travel destination.

Instagram in particular has changed how people choose their next adventure. People might see a photo of a destination on their feed and decide to book their holiday minutes later.

With over 346 million posts under the hashtag of #travel, it’s clear that Instagram is not only a social media platform with attractive images — but a gateway to an actual destination as well.

In fact, a Facebook study found that 67% of travellers on Instagram use the platform to look for inspiration for new places to travel to. And a similar number (62%) used Instagram to build excitement for new trips.

We are constantly being told how much of an affect digital marketing can have on a person however it’s only when you see results like this that you become aware of just how much effect living in a world where everything is online can have on a person and their choices.
